The Hardware Operations team at Google is responsible for maintaining and monitoring the physical infrastructure that powers Google’s search technology. As a Data Center Technician, you will be tasked with installing, configuring, testing, troubleshooting, and maintaining hardware and server software. You will also be responsible for configuring networking components and protocols, as well as leading small project teams on larger installations.
Requirements and Necessary Skills
- Diploma of College Studies in Computer Science or Electronics, or equivalent practical experience.
- Experience with diagnosing and troubleshooting operating systems, computer hardware, and server hardware.
- Experience with networking protocols.
- Ability to lift/move 50lb (23kg) of equipment and exert yourself physically over extended periods of time.
- Ability to work non-standard hours, including weekends, holidays, and shift-based schedules.
- Fluency in English and French to support client relationship management.
Preferred Qualifications
- 4 years of experience in maintenance and monitoring of server systems.
- Experience working within a data center or network operation center environment.
- Experience with Linux operating systems.
- Experience in project management and leadership.
- Experience collaborating and partnering with teams.
