An exciting opportunity has arisen for individuals with nursing, clinical, or allied healthcare experience to join the Medical Examiner Officer team in Wales. The team comprises professionals from diverse backgrounds, including nursing, biomedical scientists, and paramedics. Experience in a healthcare setting is essential.
Main Duties
The Medical Examiner Officers will:
- Carry out independent scrutiny of deaths to establish the cause and identify cases for further investigation.
- Support Medical Examiners by reviewing and analyzing information in medical records.
- Assist in discussing causes of death with medical practitioners.
- Communicate with bereaved families to explain causes of death and gather information regarding concerns.
- Act as a point of contact for relatives, healthcare professionals, and Coroner’s offices.

Experience Required
- Working in sensitive situations with bereaved families.
- Experience in healthcare settings with multidisciplinary teams.
- Knowledge of the Coroners and Justice Act 2009 concerning death certification.
