The Alma Road Surgery in Romsey has an opening for an experienced Practice Nurse specializing in Chronic Disease management, particularly in Diabetes and Asthma. The position requires 25 to 30 hours of work per week, primarily on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Fridays, though there is room for negotiation. Salary is dependent on experience.
Responsibilities
- Conduct long-term condition reviews including Diabetes, COPD, and Asthma.
- Perform wound care and cervical screening.
- Provide contraception, travel, and child immunizations.
- Document assessments and care delivery in accordance with practice policies and NMC guidelines.
Main Duties
- Minor and complex wound care/ulcer care.
- Compression dressings.
- Administer medical injections, including B12 and Prostap.
- ECG procedures.
- Removal of sutures.
- Venesection.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to Data Protection Act.
- Attend study sessions to stay updated with current trends.
- Cover for colleagues during sickness or holidays as needed.
Work Environment
The Alma Road Surgery is located in a semi-rural area near Southampton and The New Forest, serving a patient list of 15,700. The team consists of 11 GPs, 4 Practice Nurses, a Respiratory Nurse Lead, 2 Healthcare Assistants, and 2 Phlebotomists. Qualifications
- Friendly and welcoming demeanor.
- Educated to GCE/GCSE standard in core subjects.
- Competent in IT and communication skills.
- Experience in Chronic Disease Management, particularly with Diabetes and Asthma.
- Registered with the NMC.
