Black Country Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust is looking for a compassionate and experienced Applied Psychologist to join its Clinical Health Psychology Service, working within the Wolverhampton Cancer Service. This role sits within a psychologically informed, multidisciplinary cancer pathway, offering specialist support to patients and families navigating diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, recurrence, and end-of-life care.

Your responsibilities

  • Carry out highly specialist psychological assessments for patients with complex conditions, drawing on multiple sources of clinical data
  • Identify and manage risk for individual clients while advising other professionals on psychological risk factors
  • Design and negotiate highly specialist therapy plans grounded in evidence-based frameworks
  • Deliver a range of psychological interventions to individuals, families, carers and groups, adapting formulations as needed
  • Provide clinical supervision to Trainee and Assistant Psychologists, and to Band 7 colleagues under senior guidance

Your profile

  • Doctoral-level postgraduate training in applied psychology accredited by the BPS, covering psychopathology, clinical psychometrics, neuropsychology, multiple therapeutic modalities and lifespan development
  • HCPC registration as a Chartered Applied Psychologist
  • Training in clinical supervision, including supervision of doctoral trainees
  • Proven experience as a qualified applied psychologist working across diverse client groups, age ranges and severity levels in various care settings

This permanent, part-time post sits at Band 8a on the Agenda for Change pay scale, with a salary range of £57,528 to £64,750 per year (pro rata), based at New Cross Hospital in Wolverhampton.
