The Supplies and Procurement North Midlands and Black Country Procurement Group is looking for a commercially minded Category Manager to join its Medical Strategic Procurement Team on a 24-month fixed-term contract. This role sits within the Non-Medical Strategic Procurement team supporting The Royal Wolverhampton NHS Trust and Walsall Healthcare NHS Trust, working closely with the Strategic Procurement Manager to deliver value and compliance across a range of procurement categories.

Your responsibilities

  • Manage a portfolio of contracts and designated procurement categories
  • Ensure best value for money while meeting Trust strategy and customer needs
  • Maintain compliance with procurement legislation, UK law, and Standing Financial Instructions
  • Lead and support procurement of goods and services for the Trusts and their partners
  • Travel occasionally to sites in Stoke-on-Trent and Stafford as required

Your profile

  • CIPS NVQ Level 4 qualification or equivalent knowledge and experience, or a procurement/business-related degree or equivalent
  • Desirable: management or leadership qualification
  • Desirable: project management experience
